The Most Important Photo Edit!

If you’re travelling to Thailand you should definitely get a ticket to watch the Muay Thai boxing for a combination of intense athletic competition, deep cultural immersion, and a thrilling live atmosphere.
The sport’s powerful techniques, the palpable energy of a live event, and its significant place in Thai heritage make it a unique and unforgettable experience. Muay Thai is Thailand’s national sport and a significant part of its cultural heritage, blending ancient traditions with fierce athletic competition. The combination of the live crowd, the rhythmic music, and the intense action creates an electrifying and unforgettable atmosphere. Muay Thai fighters use their fists, elbows, knees, and shins to deliver powerful and effective strikes. It’s a dynamic and visually impressive sport.
That’s why I decided to take my Canon R6 and RF70-200 lens. I checked online whether cameras with interchangeable lenses would be allowed at the Rajadamnern Stadium. Some people said they managed to use their cameras without any restrictions.
That was enough for me. The worst that could happen would be the gear confiscated at the entrance and returned after the show. However, I managed to get some shots of the action, and there was a lot of action to cover. During the fights my view was mostly obstructed by the ropes around the fighting ring, which is probably why they don’t mind people taking photos from those angles.
I thought most of the shots are going to be unusable, duds, effectively a waste of time. I carried on regardless waiting for the right moment. It was a real test of patience as I tried to work between the ropes to capture some close up action shots. Difficult with only a 70-200 lens but at least I had f2.8. The R6 is also only 20mp so any significant cropping in post editing will reduce the overall quality of the photos.
But it was the image cropping that really saved this batch of photos, and the eventual image resolutions didn’t concern me at all! That’s why cropping in post production is one of the most important edits you can do to make your photos really stand out.
Let’s take a look at some examples.
